I'm NOT perfect.
I SAY what's on my mind.
I START fights.
I'm JEALOUS and sometimes i DON'T like to UNDERSTAND things.
I'm DEMANDING.
I'm childish.
I'm moody.
LOVE ME OR HATE ME, YOU CHOOSE.

HW: revised version of Jose T. Almonte’s:
THE CHINA CHALLENGE: WHAT TO DO
China, as we are all expecting, is likely to become the world’s largest economy in a decade or so. Time after time, the country is improving and becoming more powerful causing it to be a threat to every country. Because of such characteristics, they are able to acquire anything in no time challenging United States as the World’s hegemonic power.
Way back, China’s economy wasn’t that stable, problems are repeating over and over again. They recovered only under Mao Tse Tung’s reforms which changed the country. What makes China to be in such a position as they are right now? Aside from the reforms made by its strong leaders, It’s the Chinese people’s historic and nationalistic sense. They value much of their history, their culture and most especially their nation.
Their claim over the disputed islands that lies within the South China Sea, and even South China Sea itself, is non-negotiable and there is no way they are giving up on it and nothing can stop them from acting the way they are doing now. Because of their aggression towards these territories, everybody feared that it could lead to war which we do not all want.
“Marami pang kakaining bigas”, Philippines is far far away compared to where China is standing right now, so is there any way we could win this battle? Yes, Pres. Aquino III is doing “immediate” actions enough to address this problem, but all of these are only for the short-run, are there any long-term plans?
Let’s face it, Philippines is still weak to face this kind of challenge. Jose T. Almonte said in his article in which I agree, that if our country is to prevail under any challenge, the Philippines must become worthy of respect as a sovereign nation, and for that to happen, we must first all enable our people to become more effective and make our country rich enough to be able to acquire the means to defend the nation’s interests. We must follow certain conditions necessary to achieve such goals for growth and development.
1. First of all, we must have discipline within ourselves. If we have this, then the rest will follow. If we have this and cannot afford to make any mistakes, then the government will not have a hard time carrying out policies, strategies, reform programs that are helpful to the growth and development of the country. Also if everybody is HONEST and dedicated to everything they do, there will be no corruption and misgovernment.
2. We must be united. Each of us should bear the sense of nationalism. If we are all one with the same goal and values it’s more likely for us to attain success easily.
3. Along with the building of nationhood, internal violence/ conflict must be ended. These events can make a state looks like it doesn’t have a strong government that can rule over its territory, etc, it can cast a bad image on the state.
4. We must end the class struggle between the rich and the poor. All must be equal and those who work hard must be given a good reward and those who doesn’t have any chances must be given one.
5. We must reassess our history. We should do this so that we will not commit the same mistakes again. Policies are second most important of all because it deals with the interest and the security of the nation and the state.
It’s not too late for us to change, there is a lot of time and we should not waste it. I can see changes with the Aquino’s administration, I must say, everything is possible. The only problem we have is us, people. If we let ourselves to be united and work as one, for the next ten or twenty years, who knows?, maybe we could be as rich as what we wanted our country to be.
